The Fellowship of Christian Athletes highlighted character among area football programs Wednesday afternoon as the Houston Touchdown Club sponsored the 13th Annual High School Sportsmanship Luncheon. Goose Creek Memorial was a finalist for the award in Class 6A. Barbers Hill and Crosby were finalists in Class 5A with the Cougar program earning a runner-up trophy at the JW Marriot.

The Texas Association of Sports Officials Houston Chapter selected the finalists and award winners. Teams were judged on actions of head coaches, support people and the team as well as respect for the American flag, unsportsmanlike fouls and personal fouls. The Cougars were represented by head coach Jeff Riordan and wide receiver Tre Patterson.
