MOUNT PLEASANT — Brock Butler poured in 35 points and led Iowa Wesleyan University to an 81-79 overtime victory over Spalding in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game at Ruble Arena Wednesday night.

The score was knotted at 71-71 after regulation play.

Butler sank six of 14 3-point attempts and was 7-for-7 at the free throw line. He also had eight rebounds, a steal and an assist. The Tigers' Mitchell Drey came off the bench for 11 points and five rebounds.

Dominique Ellis led Spalding with 26 points. Cornelius Watts and Robert Benningfield each scored 14.

Iowa Wesleyan improved to 4-14 (4-7 SLIAC). Spalding is 8-9 (6-5).

Northern Iowa 83, Illinois State 72

CEDAR FALLS — Isaiah Brown scored 20 points and Bennett Koch scored 11 of his 17 points from the foul line and Northern Iowa beat Illinois State.

Northern Iowa (11-10, 3-6 Missouri Valley Conference) led 15-14 then exploded on a 25-0 run that included six 3-pointers, including three by Brown. Illinois State went scoreless for 9½ minutes and trailed 41-19 at halftime.

Koch made 3 of 4 free throws for a 76-54 lead with 5:12 left before the Redbirds (10-11, 4-5) ended with an 18-7 run to make the score respectable. Illinois State shot 7 of 27 (26 percent) in the first half but turned it around after intermission on 22-of-38 (58 percent) shooting.

Wyatt Lohaus scored 14 for the Panthers and Juwan McClouds had career highs with nine assists and six steals. Northern Iowa has won three of its last four following a seven-game losing streak.

The Redbirds' Keyshawn Evans made six 3-pointers and scored 25 points. Milik Yarbrough added 20 points and tied his career high with 13 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.

Loyola-Chicago 80, Drake 57

DES MOINES — Marques Townes scored 17 points, Clayton Custer added 14 with eight assists, and Loyola-Chicago used a big second-half run to beat Drake for its sixth straight win.

Cameron Krutwig scored 12 points and Lucas Williamson added 10 for the Ramblers (17-4, 7-2 Missouri Valley Conference), who shot 56.7 from the field and trailed 31-29 at halftime.

Krutwig tied it at 31 with a layup and Custer made two layups amid a 10-2 run for a 41-34 lead with 15:43 to play. Drake's Nick McGlynn tied it at 51 with a 3-pointer with 9:19 left, but Ben Richardson's layup ignited a 22-2 run in which Williamson and Custer each hit 3s. The Bulldogs went without a field goal for nearly seven minutes during the stretch.

Graham Woodward scored 14 points, McGlynn added 12 and Reed Timmer had 10 with three assists for the Bulldogs (12-10, 6-3).
