Letter writer says tiny homes and sleeping cabins are not license to stay unemployed.

Regarding Sam Liccardo’s oped (Opinion, Jan. 21) concerning housing in San Jose: I concur in that the Evergreen Senior Homes Initiative is the epitome of greedy developers and a waste of public resource to even vote on it. In contrast, struggling working-class families are still hopping from apartments to apartments; that should not be the norm of San Jose. Any future housing plans must be for the dwelling of local taxpaying and working residents.

Homelessness can be a viciousness cycle often accompanied by job loss. To offer homeless housing might only relieve the symptoms but not solve the underlying problems: tiny homes and sleeping cabins are not license to stay unemployed. I hope that the city has a more comprehensive approach to tackle these issues.
