Shirley Ann (Guyton) Reneau, went to be with her Lord on Jan. 24. She passed peacefully after suffering for years with breast cancer and Alzheimer’s. Born December 22, 1936, Shirley grew up in Melrose, Ohio and graduated from Oakwood High School. Shortly thereafter, she met that “Navy fella” Elton Reneau. Married on December 7, 1954, they enjoyed 62 years of marriage until Elton’s passing last February.
Mom had a great love for family and her God. She constantly made the drive from Findlay to Melrose to visit and take care of her parents and siblings. Mom was a very hard worker in whatever she was doing. She loved to walk and could be seen often around the neighborhood strolling along with Julye. Mom and Dad attended church faithfully, spending many years as members of the Bright Road Church of Christ.
No woman ever had more patience and perseverance-both requirements to be married 62 years to E.R. Mom was a quiet woman, but would speak her mind when pressed. She will be greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Bart (Lisa) and Jim (Julye); seven grandchildren, Megan (Findlay), Lindsay (Indianapolis, Indiana), Cody (Clarksville, Tennesse.), Jayme (North Baltimore), Jenna (Findlay), JJ (Annapolis, Maryland.), Tyler (El Paso, Texas.); and six great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to St. Catherine’s Manor in Fostoria and Bridge Hospice for their compassionate care of Mom.
