Denver Nuggets’ second-year point guard Jamal Murray is heading back to the Rising Stars Challenge during NBA All-Star Weekend after earning Most Valuable Player honors at last year’s contest.

Murray, a native of the Toronto suburb of Kitchener, is a member of the World roster that will match up against rookies and second-year players from the United States. In last year’s game, Murray totaled 36 points (including a 9-of-14 mark from 3-point distance) and 11 assists in a 150-139 Team World win.

Murray is averaging 16.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game so far this season, including a career-high 38 points in Monday’s win over Portland. The 20-year-old Kentucky product has helped the Nuggets to a 24-23 record and the eighth spot in the Western Conference entering Wednesday.

All-Star Weekend is Feb. 16-18 in Los Angeles.
