Lists LPG connection, power, roads, housing among achievements

Praising the State government’s performance, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Wednesday described N. Chandrababu Naidu as ‘25X8 Chief Minister’.

Addressing a meeting at S.R. Puram near here, he said the government was doing everything for them and it was the turn of the people to make use of the benefits provided, work hard and take the State to the top slot.

The government was providing people with LPG connection, power, roads, housing, tractors and other vehicles for self-employment. He observed that a person who took ₹2 lakh loan for tractor was confident that he would repay it. That was the confidence given by the government.

He had seen children who donned various guises at the exhibition and the women who received saris as a part of ‘Simantam’ were happy and said he would share what he had seen with the Chief Minister at the Republic Day parade.

The Chief Minister was doing a great job leading to happiness and confidence among people, Mr. Narasimhan said.

“During the last three years your lives have changed and you should also have the feeling that the government is ours and the State is ours.”

He said he was surprised at seeing the facilities like roads at S.R. Puram and the cleanliness of houses there and said it had everything Visakhapatnam had. He recalled the words of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam that villages should have the amenities of cities.

The Governor declared Pendurti mandal, in which the village is located, 100% ODF and presented a cheque for ₹1 lakh.

MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy recalled the visit of Governor Bhim Sen Sachar during his childhood when his father held the Planning Board meeting. He said the Governor was ably coordinating with the two States holding the position for a long time. He sought the help of the Governor to the nascent State in its further advance.

Listing the achievements of the district, Collector Pravin Kumar said education and health were being given top priority though some problems persisted in the tribal areas. Industry and services were contributing 50% to GDP keeping it second in the State after Krishna.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, Principal Secretary Harpreet Singh and VUDA Vice-Chairman P. Basanth Kumar and others were present.

Earlier, the Governor visited the exhibition set up and gave away benefits to various sections.
