BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A girl reported missing in Negros Occidental was found dead on Tuesday.
The body of Noelita del Carmen, 5, was stuffed in a sack buried near a pigpen in Purok Malunggay, Barangay Malingin, Bago.
The girl failed to come home on Monday.
The mother of the victim, Elvira, said her daughter could have been raped before she was killed.
Police invited for questioning the owner of the house near the pigpen where the body of the victim was found.
Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, Bago deputy police chief, said they would conduct an autopsy on the body of the girl to determine the cause of her death.
Missing girl’s leg found
In Pangasinan, Soledad de Guzman, 45, said a decomposing leg a dog brought into their compound in Barangay Tarece, San Carlos City belonged to her daughter.
De Guzman said her daughter Melissa, 15, failed to return home when she went out to buy cell phone load last Dec. 4.
She said the fingernails in the recovered leg were similar to her daughter’s.
