Sea Lions clobber AIMS 5; New Era shocks UL

MANILA, Philippines — Olivarez College smothered Asian Institute of Maritime Studies with a dominating game from start to finish, fashioning out a 105-57 demolition in the Sta. Lucia Land-NCRAA men’s basketball tournament at the Calasiao Sports Complex in Pangasinan yesterday.

Louie Campos finished with 17 points and nine rebounds in just 15 minutes of action while Jeric Prado added 16 points and six rebounds as Olivarez grabbed the Group A lead half a game ahead of idle Technological Institute of the Philippines.

New Era, meanwhile, stunned host team University of Luzon, 77-73, with Jeff Comia coming through with the big plays down the stretch. He canned in two pressure-packed charities and capped his heroics with a steal and a lay up as New Era kept a four-point cushion.

Comia was called for a technical foul in the ensuing play but made up for the lapse with a clutch basket coupled with Nemesis dela Cruz’s split charities to secure the win.

In the other game, Philippine Merchant Marine School pulled off a 98-93 victory over PATTS College of Aeronautics.
