One more Army jawan injured during cross border firing on January 20 in Krishna Ghati Sector of Poonch succumbed to injuries on Wednesday taking the total death toll to 13 in the ongoing incidents of ceasefire violation since January 17, 2018.
Seven civilians, four Army jawans and two BSF personnel have so far lost their lives amid escalating tensions along the International border and the line of control across Jammu region.
According to Defence spokesman in Jammu, “Naik Jagadish, 34, had sustained splinter injuries during unprovoked firing in Krishna Ghati sector on January 20 and was shifted to the intensive care unit of the Military hospital.
Hailing from Chamoli district Naik Jagadish is survived by Wife and two young children. Meanwhile, deceptive calm prevailed along the International border in Jammu as no fresh exchange of fire was reported in the area for over 72 hours. The villagers continue to stay away from their residences and yet to return home in the wake of prevailing security situation.
