
India suspends BSF trooper for molesting Bangladeshi woman on Maitree Express

The Border Security Force or BSF of India has suspended a constable for molesting a Bangladeshi woman when she was travelling back to Dhaka from Kolkata by Maitree Express.
The victim’s husband, who was travelling with her, lodged a complaint with the station manager in Kolkata who forwarded it to the BSF on Jan 22.
The Indian border guards said in a press release on Tuesday that after investigation, they found Constable Veeranna Bhavi of 99 Bn BSF involved in the incident and accordingly, has been suspended.
“BSF is extending all cooperation to the Railway Authorities for taking further legal action in this matter,” it added.
According to the release, one BSF Company of 99 Bn BSF is detailed to provide security to this train from Kolkata to Gede and back.
