SHARJAH: His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday received a delegation from the Austrian archaeological mission at Sharjah Archaeology Authority.

During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan was briefed on the Austrian mission’s archaeological efforts and the latest findings of researchers in archaeologists in Austria and a number of European countries.

Sheikh Sultan underscored the importance of human heritage as well as the effect of excavations on culture and civilisation and their role in highlighting the identity and heritage of peoples.

The meeting also discussed the areas of co-operating in archeological excavations and exchanging experiences in scientific and archaeological fields.

Earlier, the Austrian delegation was briefed on the results of archaeological research and excavations carried out by the Sharjah Archaeology Authority and the progress made in the field of archaeological discoveries in Sharjah.
