The Laker girls basketball team picked up a second victory on the season defeating Staples-Motley 52-41 behind three players in double figures in a Mid-State Conference game Tuesday night at Ralph Anderson Gymnasium.

Defensively, Detroit Lakes set out to shut down the Cardinals’ leading scorer Claire Wolhowe and did just that holding the Cardinal senior to seven points, all from the free throw line.

“Our team’s defensive goal was the hold Wolhowe to single digits,” said Laker head coach Tom Vagle. “She never got a field goal. Cortney Brodsho, Haidyn Gunderson and Anna Cihak did a great job of defending.”

Bre Price, Lauryn Manning and Lauren Tschider led the offensive attack.

“It was nice to have three players in double digits,” Vagle said.

Price scored a game-high 17. Manning and Tschider added 16 and 12, respectively.
