Four die in a road mishap

SAMBALPUR: At least four persons died and 32 others sustained injuries after a bus fell off a bridge over Malti joar, around 22km from here, on the Sambalpur-Deogarh highway, late on Tuesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Ranjan Meher, Gopal Chandra Mahanta, Saroj Routray and Dilip Sahu.


Report said, the bus was going towards Rairangpur from Sambalpur when the accident took place. Police, fire brigade and locals rushed to the spot.


The injured were rescued and rushed to Sambalpur District Headquarter Hospital and later the seriously injured persons were shifted to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla. Condition of six injured person is stated to be critical.
