NTAs 2018: Emmerdale winning speech cut short as Dermot O'Leary rushes cast off stage
EMMERDALE won Best Serial Drama last night at the National Television Awards.
After a year of dramatic storylines, Emmerdale managed to triumph against its rivals once more.
The soap was pitted against EastEnders, Hollyoaks, and Coronation Street.
Emmerdale cast members swarmed the stage to celebrate the win.
Laurel Thomas star Charlotte Bellamy commented: “Emmerdale is so honoured to receive this award tonight.”

“It goes to each and every single person who works on this show,” she continued. “The costumes, the cast, the crew, the production team, the writers.
“There are literally hundreds of us,” she added.
“A massive shout out to our exec John Whiston,” Charlotte noted. “And to our extraordinary, incredible producer, Iain MacLeod.”
After this, Dermot O’Leary began looming next to the cast, quickly gesturing that they should end their acceptance speech.

“You know, we are such a happy team,” she finished. “And tonight we are so proud to take this award home back to Yorkshire, thank you!”
Dermot then swiftly wrapped up the show, cutting her speech short and rushing to the credits.
Fans flocked to Twitter to comment on Emmerdale’s win, with one viewer writing: “Well done #Emmerdale very well deserved #NTAs, definitely the best soap!”
Another added: “Congratulations @emmerdale #emmerdale on your well deserved @OfficialNTAs #NTAs award x.”

This is the second year running Emmerdale has won the Best Serial Drama Award.
Dermot also removed Piers Morgan from the stage earlier on in the evening.
However he failed to remove Bradley Walsh from the stage, after he crashed the This Morning acceptance speech.
