To the Editor:
I ask the citizens of York who outwardly support Randy Small, to set a better example for our kids about what it means to be a bully and the consequences one must for suffer for it.
The only person that hasn’t been blamed for the firing of Randy Small is Small himself. The York High School athletic director and superintendent had legitimate reasons for their decision and would be legally culpable if they were acting in a rash or reactionary way.
I know for a fact that adult language and physical intimidation were coaching tactics used by Mr. Small. His time and style have passed, however the nostalgic ‘townie’ mentality of the vocal minority refuses to acknowledge this fact and continue to embarrass themselves on TV in front of the School Committee.
The administration did not dismiss Mr. Small because of a personal agenda, they acted on the best interest of the collective student body, athlete or otherwise. Maybe blame should be placed on the person who put his self in this position, not School Committee member Dick Bachelder who has served the students of York with in a tireless and honorable fashion. It's time to move on people, there are bigger issues at hand.
