Mumbai: Man makes sexual gestures at 12-year-old girl, court sentences him to two years of RI

On Tuesday, POCSOA court sentenced the man to two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for making sexual gestures at a 12-year-old girl.
According to a report in DNA, the court held Savaramal Jaat guilty under the stringent POCSOA charges of molesting a child and also under molestation charges of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The court has also asked the accused to pay Rs 10,000 as fine.
The incident had taken place in 2016 when the child was studying in the corridor of her house. When she was studying, Savaramal Jaat first blinked his eye, after which the girl got scared and held her book in front of her face. The accused went to a distance and started making sexual gestures by looking at the girl.
The girl got scared and told her mother about the incident. Then, her mother took her along and searched the man. After the girl identified the accused, her mother called the police and later a case was registered against the accused.
