Rockford police officer strikes pedestrian with squad car

ROCKFORD — A Rockford police officer struck a pedestrian Tuesday night in the 2900 block of West State Street.

The crash took place shortly after 8 p.m. The victim is a woman who suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to police, the woman's injuries are not life-threatening, and she is in stable condition.

The officer, whose name was not released Tuesday night, was driving a marked squad car and taking a subject to the hospital when the woman was struck.

This subject had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, a press release states, and the officer was not injured. 

The Rockford Police Department is investigating the crash.
