The temperature plunged overnight, falling from the mid 40s on Tuesday to about 30 degrees around the area Wednesday morning.

A flood advisory issued by the The National Weather Service in Albany is expected to end after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Heavy rain and warmth melted the region's snow pack and sent water spilling into creeks and streams but flooding was minimal.

Huge chunks of broken up ice line the Mohawk River's edge between Schenectady's Stockade neighborhood and the village of Scotia but the accumulated ice did no cause flooding.

The threat of flooding is expected to diminish with the dropping temperature.

The daytime temperature in the region is expected to hover around the freezing point through Friday but a warm-up is expected on Saturday and Sunday when the mercury is expected to rise into the mid 40s.
