WOLCOTT – A family’s dog was attacked and dragged into the woods by coyotes Saturday night, according to police.
At about 7 p.m., officers responded to the area of Cancellaro Drive for the attack, according to Animal Control Officer Roz Nenninger.
Police located the dog’s body in the woods. The dog, Brody, a 30-pound chihuahua and Jack Russell terrier mix, was dead.
Brody was outside his home, in the front yard, when the attack occurred. The dog was not behind a fence.
Nenninger asks residents to never leave their pets, including cats, outside without supervision or off-leash. That rule should apply to pets of all sizes, she said.
“It can happen in a split second,” Nenninger said.
She added, “Sadly, we have to live with (coyotes), and they have to live with us.”
