Brightland college Lucknow: What if the school is de-affiliated?
Parents whose children are studying in Brightland College – where a girl allegedly attacked a Class 1 boy with a knife recently – are already concerned over the security of their wards. And now the DIoS’ recommendation to de-affiliate this institution from the UP Board has added to their worries.

Parents whose children are studying in Brightland College – where a girl allegedly attacked a Class 1 boy with a knife recently – are already concerned over the security of their wards. And now the DIoS’ recommendation to de-affiliate this institution from the UP Board has added to their worries.
- The committee constituted by the DIoS pointed out that the classes were being run without compliance of norms.
- “There were more students than permitted. Class 3 and 4 were being run at a distance from the main school block. The school laboratory also did not meet norms,” the committee said.
- The suspect girl and her father alleged that the school management was framing them in a bid to shield “somebody”.
- They also alleged that the school management’s role was doubtful and police investigation was not fair. The suspect’s father also demanded a CBI probe into the case.
“After dropping my daughter to school, I remain worried about their safety till such time I collect them after the school gets over. And now the recommendation of the district inspector of schools to de-affiliate the school for not meeting norms is giving me sleepless nights,” said Chandramani Tewari, whose two daughters are students of this school.
According to Chandramani, if the school is de-affiliated, he would be required to enroll his daughters in another school. “I will have to pay admission fees afresh for both kids, which means a lot of money. From where will I get funds to pay admission fees,” he said.
Many parents were also seen discussing this issue with others who came to drop their child to school on Tuesday morning.
On Monday, Lucknow DIoS Mukesh Kumar Singh sent a letter to the UP Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) seeking de-affiliation of the school “as its management had failed to ensure safety of students.”
Kamlesh Rajput, a parent, said his two children were studying in this school and he was worried after going through media reports over the issue. Another parent Anil Kumar said the school administration was hiding some facts.
When contacted, Rachit Manas, the co-director of the institution, said the DIoS’ recommendation to de-affiliate the school was made under media pressure. “There is no doubt that the stabbing incident was serious. We are praying for the speedy recovery of Hrtihik, the Class 1 boy who is undergoing treatment,” said Rachit.

After the incident, school principal and co-director Rachit Manas had tried to play down the stabbing incident, saying that the six-year-old Hrithik Sharma had only sustained minor injuries. But doctors at KGMU said the boy suffered multiple injuries in his abdomen and chest and the injuries were serious.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had visited the KGMU to meet the victim on Thursday.
