Auto driver shot in Khemnichak

PATNA: One Jagnandan Kumar (22) was shot dead at Khemnichak in Shivnagar area under the Ramkrishna Nagar police station area of the city on Tuesday evening.
Police said Jagnandan was shot twice in his chest and abdomen. He was rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries.

Ramkrishna Nagar police station SHO Ranjan Kumar said the incident took place just outside Jagnandan's residence. The victim was an autorickshaw driver and had connections with antisocial elements of the area.

"He had come outside his residence on evening stroll and got involved in a heated argument with six youths of his locality, who were sitting near a Saraswati Puja pandal," Kumar said. The youths were identified as Pradeep Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, Indrajeet Kumar, Mithilesh Kumar, Bittu Kumar and Uttam Kumar.

"All the accused are in their early 20s," the SHO said. He also said Pradeep, Sandeep and Indrajeet are siblings and also drive autorickshaws in the area.


He said a scuffle broke out after the heated argument during which Jagnandan was thrashed by the youths. "It was during the fight when Jagnandan got pinned down and one of the youths pulled out a firearm and shot him twice," he said.


"Jagnandan and his friends had been involved in scuffle and arguments with the youths in the past as well," he said.


"Raids are on to nab the six youths who allegedly killed Jagnandan," the SHO said.
