Vern Reed, coordinator of the Bridges Out of Poverty program in Burlington, will be the keynote speaker for the sixth annual South Hill Appreciation Banquet.
Set for 6 p.m. Feb. 3 at Burlington Gym, the South Hill Neighborhood Association Event features dinner, the presentation and door prizes aplenty.
Bridges Out of Poverty is a program offering training to people living in generational poverty to help them break the cycle of poverty. The southeast Iowa initiative has spread into Lee and Henry counties since starting in Burlington.
