Cal tight end Ray Hudson was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA, head coach Justin Wilcox announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound senior has 34 receptions for 429 yards and three touchdowns in 34 career games and thrived during last season’s training camp before suffering a season-ending leg injury. He also missed the 2013 season because of injury.

“I am grateful for being granted the opportunity to continue my collegiate career at Cal,” Hudson said in a statement. “I look forward to returning to the field this season stronger physically and mentally to help this team in any way I can. I am grateful for all the support I have received from Cal Athletics, the coaching staff and fans.

“I look forward to running out of the North Tunnel at California Memorial Stadium again in 2018 to finish my collegiate career.”

Man City stops Bristol City

Pep Guardiola reached his first final in English soccer as Manchester City ended second-tier Bristol City’s memorable run in the League Cup on Tuesday to stay in contention for silverware on four fronts.

Man City won the second leg of their semifinal 3-2, with Kevin De Bruyne scoring off the last kick of the game, to advance to the Feb. 26 final at Wembley Stadium 5-3 on aggregate.

Chelsea and Arsenal are locked at 0-0 heading into the second leg of the other semifinal Wednesday.

Man City leads the Premier League by 12 points and is still in the Champions League and FA Cup contention.

Bristol City was attempting to become the first team since Sheffield Wednesday in 1991 to win the League Cup from outside the top flight.

•Sergio Escudero scored 26 seconds into the match as Sevilla defeated Atlético 3-1 at home, advancing 5-2 on aggregate to its second Copa del Rey semifinal appearance in three years.

It was the second elimination for Atlético, which already had failed to get past the group stage of the Champions League. Atlético’s hopes for a title this season are reduced to the Spanish league and the Europa League. It trails Barcelona by 11 points at the start of the second half in La Liga.

•Five Croats who were arrested in Serbia after a massive fan brawl at a match between Belgrade rivals Red Star and Partizen last month will serve four to six months in prison as part of a plea-bargain deal with the prosecutors.

Lawyer Maja Trkulja said they are expected to serve their prison sentences in Serbia and be banned from entering the country for another five years.

Baseball: Outfielder Curtis Granderson and the Toronto Blue Jays have finalized a $5 million, one-year contract.

The three-time All-Star can earn an additional $1.5 million in performance bonuses based on plate appearances: $125,000 for 450, $250,000 apiece for 500 and 550, $375,000 for 600 and $500,000 for 650.

Granderson, 36, agreed to the deal about a week ago, subject to a successful physical.
