Market Now: IT stocks surge; TCS, Infosys among top gainers
The Nifty IT index was trading 2.81 per cent up at 13,415 around 10:15 am (IST) while other sectoral indices were down.
NEW DELHI: Nifty IT index was the solitary gainer among the sectoral indices on NSE in Wednesday's trade.

The Nifty IT index was trading 2.81 per cent up at 13,415 around 10:15 am (IST) while other sectoral indices were down.

Shares of Tata Consultancy Services (up 4.16 per cent), HCL Technologies (up 3.05 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (up 2.54 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 2.46 per cent), Tata Elxsi (up 2.21 per cent) and Infosys (up 2.19 per cent) were the top gainers among the IT stocks.

Shares of KPIT Technologies (up 1.79 per cent), Wipro (up 1.78 per cent) and Mindtree (up 1.62 per cent) were also trading with gains.

Infibeam Incorporation (down 1.01 per cent) was the only stock in the Nifty IT index that was in the red around that time.

Equity markets were dull after a five-session record-setting spree as investors cashed profits in metal, capital goods, consumer durables, power and banking shares ahead of January month expiry in the derivatives segment tomorrow.

The NSE Nifty index was trading flat at 11,083, while the BSE Sensex was 32 points up at 36,172 around 10:15 am(IST).

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Consultancy Services, GAIL, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and Infosys were among the top gainers.

However, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Hindalco Industries, ICICI Bank and UltraTech Cement were among the top losers.
