APEDB to facilitate Japanese major’s smooth entry

The State government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japanese electronics major Hitachi for development of the Hitachi MGRM Citizen Lifecycle E-Governance platform in Andhra Pradesh, at Davos on Tuesday.

The MoU was signed by Hitachi representatives and Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) officials in in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh.

The Hitachi will commit to input its respective strengths and advantages in terms of technology. The APEDB will facilitate necessary assistance for the HIL’s entry to the market in India, including providing necessary assistance in discussions with the Central government.

The APEDB will facilitate HIL in setting up the Hitachi MGRM Citizen Lifecycle E-Governance platform and assist in obtaining necessary permissions/ registrations/ approvals/ clearances/ provide adequate support infrastructure etc., from the departments concerned in the State.

Participating in the ‘Industrial Corridors in India’ business session along with global CEOs held by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Mr. Lokesh said that the government was strategically utilising Visakhapatnam - Chennai and Chennai - Bangalore industrial corridors for industrial development of the State. The government has been implementing clusters model for development of industry in the State.

Developing eco-system

In order to create a full-fledged eco-system in electronics manufacturing, the government was creating exclusive electronic manufacturing clusters. One cluster was already operational in Tirupati. Companies such as Celkon, Carbon and Dixon were functioning from the cluster, he said.

On a related note, Mr. Lokesh held discussions with Paypal president Richard Nash.
