Dutch revenues for the business telecom market continued to fall in the third quarter, down almost 9 percent from the year earlier, according to latest report from Telecompaper. The market was pulled down by a revenue losses for mobile, fixed telephony and data. KPN remained the largest provider, with a market share of over 50 percent.

The combination of T-Mobile/Tele2 Netherlands will deliver a third large player this year, but the combined market share of almost 11 percent is still far behind number two market player VodafoneZiggo, with around 27 percent. In the coming year, Telecompaper expects more consolidation among smaller suppliers and from acquisitions by both KPN and VodafoneZiggo.

Mobile services continue to provide most revenues

Revenues from business telecom services (mobile/landline, mobile/fixed broadband and data) dropped by 8.9 percent in the third quarter to EUR 669 million, against 734 million the year before. Most revenues still come from mobile services, namely 51.3 percent, though this is less than the 53.6 percent contribution recorded the year before.

Fixed broadband was the only category where revenue grew year-on-year, rising by over 4 percent to EUR 72 million. Fixed telephony and data revenues declined 7.6 percent and 6.9 percent respectively, to EUR 146 million and EUR 108 million.
