Lucknow, Jan 24 (IANS) A woman was killed on Wednesday when a Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus caught fire after a bike rammed into it, police said. The victim was riding pillion on the bike and was killed on the spot.

More than two dozen passengers in the bus that was travelling on the Lucknow-Hardoi road, however, made a narrow escape. The bike rider was critically injured and was in hospital.

Police personnel and fire fighters rushed to the spot near the Jaipuria School to douse the flames and help the passengers.

Traffic on the busy road was held up for sometime as vehicles were stopped on either side by the police while the fire engulfed the entire bus.

Passengers of the bus were later transported to their destinations in another bus.
