A FORMER printworks in Newton Aycliffe could be converted into a business centre if plans are approved.
Newton Press, which prints weekly community newspaper The Newton News, is seeking permission to change the use of the building on Aycliffe Business Park.
Having relocated to bigger premises on the industrial estate, the family-run business is proposing to create business starter units including a mixed use business and martial arts studio.

The proposal includes external works such as new door openings and the demolition of rear lean-to stores.
There will also be a small communal space with toilet facilities and a drink preparation area.
The printworks closed in 2015 - about 40 years after Newton Press started using it as part of its general and commercial printing.
