No one quite expected, when the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s touring dates were first announced, that the resulting concerts would be attended by so much controversy. Then conductor Charles Dutoit had to withdraw in the face of a flurry of sexual assault allegations.

But the concerts themselves are going on as planned, with Thierry Fischer — the music director of the Utah Symphony — stepping into the breach. He’ll lead the orchestra in two programs as part of the San Francisco Symphony’s Great Performers Series.

The lineup on Sunday, Jan. 28, includes cellist Gautier Capuçon, with music by Debussy, Haydn and Stravinsky.
