SCOTTISH FA chief executive Stewart Regan has dismissed calls for his resignation as 'media noise'.
Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill turned down the Scotland job on Monday after holding talks with the SFA last week, prompting widespread criticism of Regan and his organisation.
But speaking to Sky Sports News, he insisted that he is determined to make the right appointment after the disappointment of O'Neill's rejection.

"It’s very disappointing," he said. “We had identified Michael as our preferred candidate right at the outset after we parted company with Gordon Strachan and we put together what we thought was our strongest case for Michael both financially and from a job perspective and we went after him.
“But we respect his decision. He’s chosen to remain loyal to NI and our search continues.
“It’s been disappointing but we’re not the first association or the first football body not to get a target and we certainly won’t be the last but we’ve got a number of names.
“Let’s not forget that this is a very exciting job. We came within a minute of beating England and we came within 45 minutes of reaching the play-offs for the World Cup so there is a lot to be hopeful about and we’re looking to get the right man to lead us forward.
"My position is for our board to consider but I think we need to separate the reality from a lot of the media noise that goes on.
“And whilst I fully respect the frustrations of the supporters for not getting the person that we went after, as I said before we won’t be the last organisation not to get our target.
“I’m determined to get the right man to lead Scotland to Euro 2020 and that’s going to be at Hampden Park, it’s exciting for us and it’s a great opportunity.
“As I said, it’s not a matter for me. I’m in this job and I’m actually determined to get the right man to lead Scotland forward.”
