National girl child day to be celebrated
Chandigarh: A State level function will be organised to celebrate national girl child day at Indradhanush Auditorium, Panchkula on January 24. Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain would be the chief guest of the function. A spokesman said that national girl child day would be organised to recognise the outstanding performance of the girls in various fields and they would be awarded accordingly so that they can become role model for others. Member Parliament Ambala Rattan Lal Kataria would preside over the function.
Cricket Match & Kite Flying competition
Chandigarh: Amway India celebrated 209th birth anniversary of Louis Braille with its NGO partner in Chandigarh by organizing a Cricket match amongst visually impaired students of Institute for the Blind - Sect 26 and National Association for the Blind – (NAB) Chandigarh and Punjab state branch. The match was followed by a kite flying competition between 15 teams. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director Higher Education and Director Public Instructions (Schools) UT Chandigarh was the chief guest for the occasion. GS Cheema, Sr. Vice President - North & South, Amway India, said, "We have been working tirelessly towards the welfare of the visually impaired with a firm belief that education is the key to the future that create opportunities transcending physical limitations. We hope that our support will inspire the students of National Association for the Blind to excel in different aspects of life and showcase their talent in different forums."
Haryana issue directions to depts
Chandigarh: Haryana Government has directed all the departments, boards, corporations and Universities in the state to provide three percent horizontal reservation to persons with disabilities in case of direct recruitment to Group C and D in total cadre posts. In case of Group A and B posts, reservation will be provided only on identified post in direct recruitment quota as well as in promotion. As some of the departments have sought clarification in respect of the date of coming into force of the persons with disabilities act, 1996, it is clarified that the date of coming into force of Act is January 1, 1996, a spokesman said.
PSIC disposes of 312 cases in December
Chandigarh: The Punjab State Information Commission has disposed of 312 cases during December 2017. Punjab Chief Information Commissioner, SS Channy said that in December 2017, a total of 2737 cases were under consideration before the various benches of the commission. In order to effectively implement the Right To Information Act-2005, a total of Rs 28000 have been given to the petitioners as compensation in 11 different cases during December 2017 and in another two cases 10000/- each had been imposed as penalty on Public information officers. The amount awarded as compensation varied from Rs 1000 to Rs 5000. During the period, total 670 new cases had been registered with Commission, added he.
Haryana revises Dearness Relief
Chandigarh: Haryana Government has revised the Dearness Relief (DR) to the State Government pensioners and family pensioners on the un-revised pension and family pension with effect from July 1, 2016. According to a notification issued by Finance Department states, “The State Government has decided that the rate of dearness allowance admissible to employees who continue to draw their pay in the pre-revised pay band/grade has been enhanced from the existing rate of 125 per cent to 132 per cent of the pension with effect from July 1, 2016, from 132 per cent to 136 per cent with effect from January 1, 2017 and from 136 per cent to 139 per cent of pension and family pension with effect from July 1, 2017”.
OBC Swachchh Bharat Awareness Van flagged off
Chandigarh: During the Swachchhta Pakhwada ( January 16 – 31) announced under the “Swachchh Bharat Campaign” by Government of India, Oriental Bank of Commerce in association with Municipal Corporation Chandigarh started “Swachchh Bharat Awareness Van” to run across various sectors of the city to create awareness about cleanliness. Swachchh Bharat Awareness Van was flagged off by Jitender Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation. On behalf of the Oriental Bank, DGM Ashok Kumar Gupta, AGM N Tiwari among others were present.
