SALESVILLE — Patricia Z. Smith, 67, of Salesville, passed away Friday January 19, 2018 unexpectedly at her residence.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 28, 1950, she was the daughter of the late John and Sophie ( Basco) Zoffian. Pat grew up in Auburn Township where she was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the former Geauga Hospital in the newborn unit. Later residing in Shalersville, she then moved in 1997 to Salesville. A member of the Senecaville United Methodist Church, she formerly was a member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church. Pat was a very talented lady, and was known as a Master Crafter. Her skills were often shared with things she made for others, especially at Christmas time. Pat and her longtime best friend Debbie Pierce enjoyed traveling together. Later Pat and her husband Lester also enjoyed their special times traveling. She was a member of the Purple Heart Group and Senior Center in Guernsey County.

On Dec. 1, 1984, she married Lester L. "Howdy" Smith, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2012. Also preceding was her brother, John "Sonny" Zoffian, Jr., and sisters Agnes Cavanagh and Marion Karabec.

She is survived by her step-son, Gordon Smith of Ravenna; step-daughters, Gera (Thomas) Kennedy of Mantua and Doreen DeAngelo of Newton Falls; four step-grandchildren and their spouses; seven step-great-grandchildren and one niece, three nephews, one great-niece, a bunch of great-nephews and one great-great-nephew.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Portage Faith United Methodist Church, 9922 St.Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 with Pastor Karen Rawlins officiating. Visitation at the church for friends and family will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Final resting place will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Shalersville Township, Ohio.
