ALEXANDRIA — Etowah clinched Class 5A, Area 13 with its 71-66 win over Alexandria in boys high school hoops.

Jamin Graham paced the Blue Devils (18-4, 5-0 Area 13) with 17 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks. Taylor Berry had 16 points, four rebounds and three steals. Alec Timmons was 4-of-7 from three and totaled 14 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Emil Smith added eight points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Etowah hosts Douglas at 4 p.m. Saturday.

 

Gadsden City 54, Midfield 48

Dee Pearson led Gadsden City past Midfield on Tuesday night in boys high school basketball.

Dee Pearson led the way for the Titans (11-11) with 25 points. Kam Burnett added 12 points. Darien Hollis contributed nine points and 12 rebounds. Mykel Woods grabbed 12 rebounds while Jaylen Cole dished nine assists.

Gadsden City hosts Grissom on Friday.

 

Glencoe 70, Pleasant Valley 60

GLENCOE — Glencoe defeated area foe Pleasant Valley on Tuesday in boys high school basketball.

Cam Harris had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Yellow Jackets (8-16, 2-2 Area 10). Patrick Johnson added nine points. Colton Stone contributed eight points. Collin Roberts tallied seven points. Bradley Scott grabbed eight points.

Glencoe travels to Sand Rock on Thursday.

 

Sand Rock 54, Coosa 45

SAND ROCK — Sand Rock defeated Coosa Christian in boys high school basketball Tuesday.

Cade Clark totaled 23 points for the Wildcats (9-12) while Tanner Clanton added 11 points.

Evan Delp paced the Conquerors (9-10) with 17 points.

Sand Rock hosts Glencoe on Thursday.

 

Westbrook 57, Coosa 39

RAINBOW CITY — Senior Braden Beecham led Westbrook Christian past Coosa Christian on Monday night in boys high school basketball.

Beecham totaled 18 points and five rebounds to help the Warriors earn a victory. Cullen Stafford pitched in 13 points and five rebounds. Andrew Lockridge added 10 points and four assists.

 

GIRLS HOOPS

Southside 65, Oxford 43

SOUTHSIDE — Class 6A, No. 5 Southside improved to 18-1 with a win over area foe Oxford on Tuesday.

The Panthers moved to 3-0 in Area 13 play with the help of Adrianna Jones’ 16 points and eight rebounds. She was 4-of-9 from the field and 8-of-11 from the free throw line.

Lauren Hunt totaled 12 points and eight rebounds for Southside. Savannah Nunn contributed 11 points while Emilee Coker added 10 points. Harley Simmons grabbed six rebounds.

Southside hosts area rival Pell City on Friday.

 

JV BOYS HOOPS

Alexandria 53, Etowah 42 (OT)

ALEXANDRIA — Etowah fell short against Alexandria in overtime Tuesday.

Trent Davis had 11 points, five rebounds and three steals. Ny Ny Davis totaled 10 points and three steals. Brady Troup helped with seven points and 10 rebounds. Ollie Finch added six points and 11 rebounds.

 

JV GIRLS HOOPS

Hokes Bluff wins county tournament

Hokes Bluff junior varsity girls defeated Southside 22-21 Saturday to win the Etowah County tournament.

Aubrey Moland sunk the last of two free throws with no time on the clock to give the Eagles the win.

Maddie Smith led Hokes Bluff with 10 points. Moland added six points.

 

JUCO MEN’S HOOPS

Bevill 95, GSCC 86

DeAris Richardson dropped 24 points but it wasn’t enough as Gadsden State Community College fell to Bevill State on Monday night in men’s junior college hoops.

John Arnold scored 17 points for the Cardinals, which are now 10-8 overall and 1-2 in the ACCC.

GSCC travels to Shelton State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
