Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab unit co-president Aman Arora has shot off a communiqué to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh and the Right to Service (RTS) Commission allegedly exposing gross violations in implementing the Right to Service Act in the state’s Social Security, Women and Child Development Department.
Arora, Sunam MLA, pointed that the officers of the Department in Sangrur district are “violating” the norms of RTS Act by unprecedented delay in disposing off the applications of old, widow, disabled and dependent poor and needy pensioners without any reason. He said that as per the RTS Act, applications related to pensions are to be cleared by the department within seven days of applying, “but the Department has not been paying heed for months”.
Quoting incident of Ubhawal village of Sunam Vidhan Sabha constituency, Arora said that he had got 31 applications applied online on the e-Seva Kendra portal in the first week of 2017 which were to be cleared by the department within a week.
