President Trump's national security adviser H.R. McMaster shot down rumors on Tuesday that he was considering leaving the West Wing for the Defense Department in the coming days.
"I have a job. It's a tremendous honor to do this job ... and it is my intention to go as long and as hard as I can to serve the president and the nation," the three-star Army general told reporters.
Speculation about McMaster's tenure in the White House has long swirled around Washington, with some claiming he and Trump have struggled to develop a relationship similar to that which the president had with former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
In recent days, rumors emerged that he was weighing a return to the military.
McMaster will not join the president, top aides, and Cabinet secretaries as part of the U.S. delegation to the World Economic Forum later this week.
