Market Now: ICICI Bank, BoB drag Nifty Bank index down
Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Hindalco Industries, ICICI Bank and UltraTech Cement were among the top losers in the Nifty50 index.
NEW DELHI: Shares of ICICI Bank (down 2.19 per cent), Bank of Baroda (down 1.24 per cent) and Canara Bank (down 0.83 per cent) were in the red in Wednesday's trade, dragging the Nifty Bank index down.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.38 per cent down at 27,287 around 10:25 am (IST), while benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 6 points down at 11,077. The BSE Sensex was 10 points up at 36,150.

Shares of Punjab National Bank (down 0.83 per cent), Axis Bank (down 0.74 per cent), IDFC Bank (down 0.59 per cent) and Federal Bank (down 0.19 per cent) were also down in the bank index.

On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.47 per cent), YES Bank (up 0.36 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 0.23 per cent) and State Bank of India (up 0.08 per cent) were trading up around that time.

Equity markets were dull after a five-session record-setting spree as investors cashed profits in metal, capital goods, consumer durables, power and banking shares ahead of January month expiry in the derivatives segment tomorrow.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Consultancy Services, GAIL, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and Infosys were among the top gainers.

However, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Hindalco Industries, ICICI Bank and UltraTech Cement were among the top losers.
