Christian Abrahim indicted on criminal negligent homicide and manslaughter

MIDLAND, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - Former Midland Police Officer, Christian Abrahim has been indicted on criminal negligent homicide and manslaughter.
Dec. 24th 2017, Abrahim was in a crash that killed an elderly Midland man at the intersection of Ward Street and Wadley Avenue.
Abrahim has been indicted for allegedly killing Roy Neely Jr in the crash.
Reports show former officer Abrahim's driving during the accident broke department protocol in several ways including, manner unsafe for the conditions, unsafe speed, failing to activate emergency lights and sirens and failing to try to avoid the accident.
According to Elana Ladd, MPD Public Information Officer, Abrahim's employment with the department was terminated on Jan 22nd, for failing to meet employment probationary standards.
Laura Nodolf, Midland County District Attorney said Abrahim was still on probation with MPD at the time of the crash because he was new. According to records obtained from the police department, this wasn't the first time Abrahim got into trouble with the department.
Back on Aug 3rd, 2017 Abrahim was investigated for "use of force," according to the annual investigation summary report obtained by Local 2/FOX 24.
The report shows Abrahim was exonerated and the case was closed.
Midland Chief of Police, Steve Henry addressed the situation with a statement which reads in, "We take our profession and our duty to serve very seriously. Unfortunately, in this situation Abrahim came up short. In turn, his employment was terminated.”
