AL AIN: Three young men of different nationalities went to a sandy area with a 15-year-old minor and one of them molested the minor at knife-point.

The Public Prosecution charged the three young men with forcing to molest the victim by luring him to an uninhabited area. Further, they were also charged for one of the defendants using a knife to be able to molest the victim, while the second and third defendants stood around the vehicle and abetted him in doing so.

According to the initiatory pleading, the victim met his friend - the second defendant - and got in his car to drive him home. The other defendants were inside the car. They drove to a sandy area to watch a car race at 1am.

After the car stopped, two of the accused got out of the car and walked away, leaving the Arab defendant and the minor in the car. The victim refused the defendant’s attempts to molest him and tried to resist him but was threatened with a knife at his face.

In the court sessions, attorney Nora Al Hajri demanded the acquittal of the second and third defendants of the charge of forced sex abuse based on the fact that the victim went with the defendant of his own free will and not by force, and that he asserted that the second and third defendants did not do anything wrong with him.

Al Ain Criminal Court sentenced the first defendant to a three-year jail term with the charge of molesting the victim to be followed by deportation. However, the court acquitted the second and third defendants. The public prosecution, however, appealed against the verdict.
