CMC lines up events for year-long celebrations

As part of its centenary celebrations, Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, has lined up a number of events in what will be a year-long commemoration. To start with, CMC is organising a “Centenary Run” on January 26. Health camps, conferences, luminary lecture series and scholarships for school girls have been planned.

The Centenary Run is open to staff and students as well as well-wishers from Vellore. It will start from CMC Hospital campus at 6 a.m. and end at the Oval Ground, Bagayam.

There will be a second point of start for a shorter five kilometre run/walk at Voorhees College.

Those who wish to take part should register on January 24. The forms are available at CMC main inquiry, curriculum office and Radiology office (room number 23)

J.V. Peter, director of CMC told reporters on Tuesday that there will be two conferences focussing on medical education as part of the celebrations. While one will be on how the national health policy should shape medical education, the other conference will focus on leadership in medical education, Anna B. Pulimood, principal of CMC, said.

“For residents of Vellore town, we will be organising health camps,” said Dr. Pulimood.
