Such behaviour of responsible officers won’t be tolerated: Home Minister

Taking serious view of their alleged adulterous relationship, the State government on Tuesday suspended Kalwakurthy Inspector Mallikarjun Reddy and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) D. Sunitha Reddy.

The government order issued by Principal Secretary in-charge to Government, Ajay Mishra, stated that the “ASP indulged in moral turpitude by her improper and indecorous behaviour. Her reprehensible conduct brought disrepute to the profession and lowered image of police among the public”, it stated.

She would be under suspension till conclusion of disciplinary proceedings. KPHB police of Cyberabad, which registered a case of trespass and adultery against the Inspector following a complaint from the ASP’s husband, Surender Reddy, said they would issue notices to the Inspector seeking his explanation over the charge.

While a report was sent to the Nagarkurnool SP against the Inspector in question, no such report was sent on the ASP yet.

“Looks like the Government took serious note of the two officers’ behaviour and based on prima-facie evidence, initiated disciplinary action against her,” a senior Cyberabad police officer said.

Investigators are collecting video footage of some TV news channels which recorded moments of the Inspector walking out of the ASP’s residence in the early hours of Monday.

On learning that a stranger was inside his flat with his wife, the complainant had approached some TV channels and reached the spot with his mother and mother-in-law.

“We are also verifying the video footage recorded by surveillance cameras inside the apartment as well,” the investigators said.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy, in a statement, has said “such behaviour of responsible officers would not be tolerated”.
