Sources said the Commission was in the process of compiling its reports while simultaneously disposing objections raised and grievance petitions submitted by political parties and public.

Indicating that the work was being given utmost priority by the state administration, the official said that they were expecting the final proposal to come from all districts by the end of this month.

“We would submit the report latest by third week of February and would ensure that this proposed and self-imposed deadline is not overshot”, the official said.

As the exercise had already been completed at the district levels, the zonal levels consultations were currently being held by the Commission.

The Commission had already published its draft proposals for all districts based on the Census 2011 data.

The draft would provide the turn for reservation for every post in the civic bodies, and would categorise it either as general, women, scheduled caste, or scheduled tribe in line with its territorial re-organisation.

The final proposal would be sent to the government which would give effect to the recommendations by passing appropriate orders on the delimitation about reservation.

Once the orders were issued, the State Election Commission would then publish the final revised schedule for reservation post-delimitation.

Speaking to DTNext, M Malik Feroze Khan, State Election Commissioner, said that collectors have been instructed to complete the process of disposing objections and petitions received during the zonal meeting within 7 days.

The SEC, also the Chairman of the Delimitation Commission, observed that Collectors have been asked to provide their remarks against every representation received from representatives of political parties, former civic body members and the public during the zonal meetings. 

“We will factor in their remarks before sending the report to the government”, Khan said.
