DUBAI: An inebriated lawyer, who disfigured a beautician for confronting her about her claims that the beautician’s husband had a girlfriend, has lost the case at the Appeals Court.

The European lawyer, 26, smashed a glass on the face of the Ukrainian beautician, 29, and “unintentionally’ caused her a 3 per cent permanent deformity, prosecutors explained in court.

She additionally insulted the beautician. The Criminal Court imprisoned her for three months plus deportation over the assault and insults.

It ordered her to pay a Dhs2,000 fine over alcohol abuse.

She appealed the ruling and insisted, “I was drunk. I don’t remember whether I assaulted or insulted her.” She had made the same argument before police and prosecution investigators.

However, the Appeals Court upheld the penalty.

The beautician complained before prosecutors and Al Barsha Police Station investigators that she sustained deep cuts on her face and bled profusely.
