11K urban bodies staff to get 7th Pay scale from Apr 1

About 11,000 officials and employees of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Chhattisgarh will get the benefits of 7th Pay Commission recommendations scales from April 1 this year.

This was announced by State Minister of Urban Development Administration Amar Agrawal here on Tuesday.

He was speaking at a function of Autonomous Body Employee’s Association at Pt Deendayal Auditorium Science College premises  while fulfilling the long pending demand of urban local bodies officials and employees.

According to information from official sources, Rs 200 crore of additional burden is expected on the State Exchequer from the announcement.

The Minister had in December last year had also advised the ULB chiefs to have meeting with the CAs and devise ways of boosting revenue.

Agarwal said that the State Government had been providing funds for development of basic citizen services in local bodies and around Rs 2 crore to Rs 4 crore is still available with local bodies.

 Most City Panchayats have collected about 20 per cent of property tax so far, he said.

Meanwhile, it may be recalled that the State Government has included all the 168 Urban Local Bodies of Chhattisgarh under ‘Cleanliness Survey-2018’ as per the directives of Union Urban Development Ministry, officials informed.
