Retains the title for the third consecutive year

Andhra Cricket Association teenage players brought smiles on the faces of their coaches and administrators, by winning the South Zone u-14 championship that concluded in Kerala recently. In the last match, Andhra beat Goa to top the table.

“This is a hattrick for Andhra. We topped the table in the earlier editions of 2015 and 2016 as well,” said ACA secretary Ch. Arun Kumar.

The performance of Andhra throughout the tournament was consistent as the same eleven players played the five matches. Captain and middle-order batsman Sk. Rasheed (369) emerged as the scorer while M. Mahendra Dev (247) and K.S.S. Jayanth (168) were the other contributors. In the bowling department, G. Sumith was the pick of the bowler with 21 wickets. Sk. Rasheed was declared Man of the Tournament by the Kerala Cricket Association.

“The victory is not a flash in the pan but a continuous, dedicated and professional way of grooming youngsters right from under-12,” said ACA president G.V.K. Ranga Raju.

ACA announced a cash award of ₹2 lakhs to the team.
