Collector interacts with tribal people

The Chaparai tribal hamlet in Boddagandi village of Y. Ramavaram mandal that was in news following the death of 16 tribal people due to food and water contamination in June last, is connected with Fibrenet and a part of the national communications network. As many as 11 hamlets, including Chaparai, are now accessed through the video conferencing facility, which can avoid the lapses in communication henceforth.

Inaugurating the facility by interacting with the tribal people through the video conferencing from the Collectorate here on Tuesday, Collector Kartikeya Misra said that fibrenet hub was arranged at Maredumilli and the signal connectivity was improved with the help of the Google X. “Besides exchanging information during the exigencies, this networking facility will also help monitor the performance of officials and staff at the grassroots,” he said adding that digital classrooms would also be arranged through the facility for the benefit of the tribal students. Mr. Misra further said that plans were afoot to expand the networking to the entire Agency area in the days to come and about 50 to 60 villages would be covered in the first phase. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is likely to interact with the residents of Chaparai.
