Rally is part of zonal campaign in Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Mysuru and Bengaluru

While other political parties are still planning out their campaigns for the coming Assembly elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) began its campaign with a bike rally in the city on Tuesday.

The rally was part of the zonal campaign launched in Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Mysuru and Bengaluru.

“The rally, titled ‘Prajaprabhutvata Kadege, Aneya Nadige’ (The march of the elephant towards the democracy) has been launched as part of the preparation for the coming Assembly elections,” said Irfan Shaikh, district vice-president, and BSP’s MLA candidate for Vijayapura city. He said that the party has decided to hold various events across the State with the objective of establishing its base in Karnataka and win seats.

“The people of Karnataka deserve better and alternate political parties, definitely unlike the BJP which has been creating communal hatred in the State in the name of religion. The party’s Ministers are making hate speeches not only against minorities but also against Dalits. These leaders are going to the extent of calling Dalits ‘dogs’. The BSP believes in the equality of all sections of society and is preparing its campaign for the coming elections,” he said.

Nearly 300 motorcycles participated in the rally that began from Ambedkar Circle and ended at Torvi before covering all major junctions of the city. Mr. Shaikh said more such events would be organised in the coming days in Vijayapura.
