A 77-year-old man from Rochester died Sunday from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash in Florida on Jan. 8.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, John Donovan, failed to yield to oncoming traffic on U.S. 41 East in East Naples, Florida, and struck a car in the intersection at Price Street/Triangle Boulevard.

Ten people were injured, seven of whom were sent to hospitals. Three of those injured are from Rochester.

Donovan's sport utility vehicle turned into the path of a car driven by Naples resident Bharat Rao, 66, who was northbound on U.S. 41, troopers reported. Rao's car hit the passenger side of Donovan's SUV, causing the vehicle to rotate and be redirected to the north, troopers said.

Deanna Healy, 42, a Naples resident who was waiting to turn north on U.S. 41, pulled forward as she saw the SUV coming. The front of the SUV hit the back of Healy's car,, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A charge of failure to yield was pending for Donovan, who suffered serious injuries and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. He died Sunday, an updated police report said Monday.

All of the passengers in Donovan's vehicle also were injured: Kathleen Donovan, 75, suffered serious injuries; Kaitlyn Buckert and Hannah Nelson, both 20, suffered minor injuries. All were from Rochester.

Rao suffered minor injuries, as did two passengers in his car: Warren Lobo, 60, and Roweena Lobo, 54, both of East Islip, Suffolk County. Christine Rao, 65, of Naples, was seriously injured and taken to Physicians Regional — Collier Boulevard.

Healy and a passenger, Kaylee Healy, 17, of Naples, also suffered minor injuries.
