The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Sub Inspector(SI) of Railway Protection Force (RPF) in a bribery case.
“Jay Ram, SI of RPF, Simuluguri (Assam) was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 6,500,” CBI said in a statement here on Tuesday.
The probe agency said that a case was registered under section seven of the PC Act, 1988 on the allegations that the SI demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for releasing complainant’s vehicle which had hit barricade of Railway crossing at Bihubari Road, Similuguri.
The CBI said it laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed.
Searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of accused including Jaipur (Rajasthan); Moriani and Simuluguri (Assam) which led to recovery of certain documents.
