Arsenal transfer news: Arsene Wenger eyes more deals after Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang

ARSENE WENGER wants more signings this month - even if he lands Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal are closing in on a deal for the Gabon star despite Wenger claiming the move it not close.

Arsenal chiefs have been in Germany this week trying to make a breakthrough and he has been seen packing up his car this morning.

Dortmund are keen to get a replacement in before signing off on the sale, with Olivier Giroud their No 1 target.

The Gunners have snapped up Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United in the deal to send Alexis Sanchez the other way, but Wenger is eyeing more deals this month.

"We have other things in mind as well and we have plenty of opportunities in different positions," he said.

"We can buy players. We are busy on all fronts, so overall I think we are open-minded. Every opportunity we have to strengthen our squad, we’ll take.”

Arsenal have sold Theo Walcott and Francis Coquelin in their only other business this month and more could go out the exit.

Giroud is wanted by Dortmund while Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere are into the final six months of their contracts.

Arsenal though are hoping to keep Ozil and Wilshere and want to pair them with Mkhitaryan in their new look forward line.

Aubameyang would compete for a spot with current record signing Alexandre Lacazette who has struggled since his move in the summer.

Arsenal were linked with a move for Bordeaux ace Malcom but Gos Poyet has claimed he is staying put.

The new manager said: "I asked straight away if Malcom would be staying or not.

"They said yes. I said OK, now we can continue the discussion."

Club president Stephane Martin reiterated that stance on Monday.

"Malcom, it has been said and said again, he will not be leaving," he said.

"He has said he wants to play in the Premier League one day. That is normal - what player wouldn't want to play in England?

"There is no problem with Malcom."
