Children of all ages can touch, smell and learn about camellias at the Feb. 24 show.
WILMINGTON -- There is something about children and flowers. They love to pick them, touch them, smell them, maybe even take them apart to see how they are made.
With this in mind, Tidewater Camellia Club will offer a new feature at their Feb. 24th show at the New Hanover County Arboretum called The Children's Corner. Children of all ages can touch, smell and learn about camellias. They might possibly take a favorite one home from the Tidewater Camellia Club plant sale or select a camellia seedling donated from a Tidewater member's garden.
The Children's Corner (adults are invited to join too) will demonstrate the camellia from seeds to seedlings as well as planting and proper care.
The Tidewater Camellia Club Show is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the New Hanover County Arboretum, 6206 Oleander Drive. The event is free and open to the public.
Camellia exhibitors from all over the Southeastern U.S. will display nearly 1,000 award-winning blooms. There will be camellia care education displays to help answer any camellia growing questions you may have.
A special Children’s Art Display will be presented by local public school art students. And be sure to stop by our expanded sale of award-winning camellias!
